You may have heard that Nokia could be in a position to write down billions of dollars as the new Windows Phone 8 seems to make the exciting Windows Phone models dated as they will hardly be updated.
To this, the brokerage firm Canaccord Genuity says that the last month the popular Nokia Lumia 900 was not in the second place at AT&T as it was before. Instead it yielded its position to the HTC One X. The number one smartphone at AT&T remains the amazing iPhone 4S.
If taking into account channel checks made by Canaccord Genuity the Nokia Lumia 900 was in the second place after the iPhone 4S during April and May.
As for the flagship Windows Phone model it could drop a few more places in the next coming months and gave its place to the new Samsung Galaxy S III.
And now let us talk a little about the industry in general. Michael Walkley, who is famous for being one behind the brokerage firm’s channel checks, says that in June there was a slightly increased unit growth globally compared to the March. The sales in Europe were slower if compared with the Sales in Asia. As for the iPhone 4S it remained on top as always in the US. The sales of the Apple iPhone 4S were strong thanks to some promotions made by carriers. The HTC and Samsung Android smartphones picked up the market share from Apple thanks to the Samsung Galaxy SIII in Europe and the sales of the new HTC One Series for Sprint and T-Mobile.
When talking about Europe and the Samsung Galaxy S III, this amazing smartphone carries the shovel in its hands since the sales of the handset in the continent seem to be digging a deeper grave in Europe for Nokia and RIM.
